A few weeks ago someone, who used to live out in Arizona was talking about how the brown and just nothingness in the desert changes you. That everything is just so dead and ugly. And while I understand what she saw and she meant, I highly disagree. Yes the desert may appear like nothing but brown, drab dead-ness, but I personally love the desert and it's special beauty. The desert is full of life and it's only special beauty if you take the time to look 🌵

I can't believe you're now the same age I was when this photo was taken!

Since I've got no new pix of us, I decided I'd find a picture of us when I was 23 and in doing that I realized 23 was a big year for me. I graduated CSUF at 23, got to work at the NBFF, saw Fall Out Boy live for the first time, started working at Visit Anaheim, and it was the year Gerry enlisted. It was also the year we really started hanging out. I got to go to almost all your football games, explored local colleges with you, and spent a lot of time driving you and your friends around.

23 was an exciting, busy year. It was a year of change and growth and I hope it is the same for you.
Grow.
Take risks.
Try new things.
The world is just starting to open up to you and my only wish for you is that you make the most of every moment.

She has many names, Fluffy Butt, Mamas, Lady, Old Lady, Pretty Girl, Stinky, Brat, but my favorite name for my Tickle will always be Best Friend. This girl has been through it with me. The good the bad. Success and failures. Loss. No matter how bad a day I had I always had this girl to come home to and she would always make everything better. The few years we had to spend apart while I was in Hawaii was the absolute worse, but I've been so thankful to have her back with me these last few years. Today my Tickle turns 12, and if I'm honest her age is starting to make me nervous. Idk what I'll do when she's gone, but for now I'll just focus on giving her the best years of her life 🎉

During my first visit to @joshuatreenps I fell in love with the joshua tree. They look like something out of a Dr Seuss book, something from another world. During my second trip to Joshua Tree, I finally got to see the Cholla Cactus Garden, and they are almost even more magical, the way they glow in the sunlight ☀️🌵 they don't even look real.

I'm not built for the city or the suburbs. I need quiet. I need fresh air and clear skies. I need nature. And yesterday made that so so clear to me. I haven't been feeling myself lately and I knew a lot of it had to do with me being stuck at home for so many months straight and I was hoping getting away for a day would help, but I had no idea how much and how quickly. The moment I stepped out of the car in @joshuatreenps and took a deep breath of fresh air I couldn't help but smile. I felt happy and at peace. I wasn't panicked or stressed about anything. I finally felt right. 🌵
