This past weekend I was supposed to relax at the river, but some last minute problems through a wrench in our plans and we ended up turning our vacation into a staycation. @ge_rar_doh and I decided to go explore a new area of SoCal and took the train down to San Juan Capistrano. We spent the day exploring the community and of course the mission!

I haven't eaten meat like this (and in this quantity) in awhile now, but it was so so worth. Had some bomb BBQ this weekend at @heritagebarbecue yesterday. Highly recommend you give them a try if you find yourself in San Juan Capistrano, even if there is an hour long wait like there was for us. It's worth it. If they have them, you need to order the KC burnt ends and their banana blueberry bread pudding. Soo good!

I want to say each year gets easier, but that's not totally honest, it just gets different. I'd give anything to hug you just one more time and days like today make that feeling that much stronger. There are so many things I wish I could talk to you about and so many things I wish I could have shared with you over the years. It's been a rough year, but I do feel like I'm heading in a direction that makes you proud.

It's not just father's day, but it's also the first day of summer, and really nothing feels more like summer than the river, atleast to me. It's also one of the places I feel closest to you. I feel you there and it really brings me a sense of peace. ☀️

A few weeks ago someone, who used to live out in Arizona was talking about how the brown and just nothingness in the desert changes you. That everything is just so dead and ugly. And while I understand what she saw and she meant, I highly disagree. Yes the desert may appear like nothing but brown, drab dead-ness, but I personally love the desert and it's special beauty. The desert is full of life and it's only special beauty if you take the time to look 🌵

I can't believe you're now the same age I was when this photo was taken!

Since I've got no new pix of us, I decided I'd find a picture of us when I was 23 and in doing that I realized 23 was a big year for me. I graduated CSUF at 23, got to work at the NBFF, saw Fall Out Boy live for the first time, started working at Visit Anaheim, and it was the year Gerry enlisted. It was also the year we really started hanging out. I got to go to almost all your football games, explored local colleges with you, and spent a lot of time driving you and your friends around.

23 was an exciting, busy year. It was a year of change and growth and I hope it is the same for you.
Grow.
Take risks.
Try new things.
The world is just starting to open up to you and my only wish for you is that you make the most of every moment.

She has many names, Fluffy Butt, Mamas, Lady, Old Lady, Pretty Girl, Stinky, Brat, but my favorite name for my Tickle will always be Best Friend. This girl has been through it with me. The good the bad. Success and failures. Loss. No matter how bad a day I had I always had this girl to come home to and she would always make everything better. The few years we had to spend apart while I was in Hawaii was the absolute worse, but I've been so thankful to have her back with me these last few years. Today my Tickle turns 12, and if I'm honest her age is starting to make me nervous. Idk what I'll do when she's gone, but for now I'll just focus on giving her the best years of her life 🎉
