5 places you need to visit when you come to Oahu, and 2 you should skip

    April 13, 2020 / 0 Comments

I am by no means a Hawaii expert, but I did live there for nearly three years and in those three years I would like to think I transitioned (somewhat) from a wide eyed tourist to someone who called Oahu home. During my time on the island I  had the opportunity to try a lot of the "touristy" things Oahu has to offer. I also had the wonderful chance to find my own favorite places on the island. As family and friends of all different ages, with varying interests and desires for their Hawaii vacation came out to visit me I was able to see what they really enjoyed and…

    Stairway to Heaven

    July 4, 2019 / 1 Comment

One of the last hikes I attempted while on Oahu is also one of Oahu's most infamous and talked about hikes. It seems like everyone has heard of, or at least seen pictures of, Oahu's Stairway to Heaven (also known as the Haiku Stairs).

    Moss Slides

    May 13, 2019 / 0 Comments

I had heard about Oahu’s moss slides since I first moved to Oahu. I saw posts about them on Pinterest and Facebook. I heard different people talk about them. I always had an idea of where they were at, but it wasn’t until my last month on Oahu, that I actually set out to find the moss slides and I am so glad I did. Located not too far off the beaten path, the moss slides are a gorgeous, secluded, fun way to spend an afternoon. Including a few detours and the time we spent at the moss slides out entire hike (out and back) was just over five hours,…

H3 Summit Saddle – Preparing for the Stairs

    May 3, 2019 / 1 Comment

Stairway to Heaven is probably one of the most popular, illegal, hikes on Oahu and from the minute I arrived on Oahu, my husband started harassing me to do this hike. I can’t deny I was drawn to the stairs climbing up the side of the Koolau mountains and would stare at them every time we took the H3 into town, but I heard too many horror stories. To start off, even before I had arrived on Oahu, the neighborhood, where hikers would access the stairs, had hired private security to stop hikers from entering and to report any illegal trespassing. Supposedly the guard is or was easy to bypass…

Small but Mighty – Kahekili Ridge Trail

    March 26, 2019 / 2 Comments

Located in Kaawa the Kahekili Ridge Trail is a short ass kicking trail that should only be attempted by fit, experienced, confident hikers. Kahekili Ridge Trail completley kicked my ass and I was not prepared for it! The husband and I tackled the Kahekili Ridge Trail a few months ago. (This post is a little delayed as we were trying to make a video to go with it and then life, aka Military, got in the way and well here we are now.) It was either a Saturday or a Sunday afternoon and we were looking for a quick short hike to do, just so we wouldn’t feel like we wasted…

Let's see if I can sum up my feelings for this band in a concise IG caption.

I started listening to them way back in high school when their debut album dropped. I dabbled in their second album and maybe a bit of their third but then, like many of the bands I was listening to at the time, fell off my radar.

Then, March 2024, opening for Fall Out Boy, The Maine came rushing back into my life and my playlists have not been the same.

I cannot properly express how important their music has been to me over the last, nearly two years. I'm sad, I'm stressed, I'm overwhelmed, I'm unmotivated. Whatever it is I'm feeling that I need to get out of my body their music is there for me.

Since seeing them at the start of 2024, I've seen them a handful of other times, but only in festival settings, so finally being able to see them in not only a setting filled with just their fans, but in such an insanely intimate venue was so very special 🩷

I love you, but I choose The Maine 🩷

Leading up to this show I had spent the last 5 days in Las Vegas for When We Were Young. I had walked nearly 100k steps over the last three days and was running on an average of 4 hours a sleep a night for the entirety of the trip.

A smart responsible adult would have gone home and gone to bed early to recover and prepare to return to work and normal life the next day.

But that is not me and my love for this band is too strong. We drove home from Vegas that morning, dropped off our bags at home, took a quick 30 minute nap, and then headed into Hollywood...and it was so totally worth it!
