9 Instagram Accounts That Make Me Happy

    January 24, 2023 / 0 Comments

Now don't get me wrong, I love Instagram! But I realized a few years ago that certain accounts left me feeling bad about myself or angry or a laundry list of other negative emotions. To counter this I began to unfollow any accounts that weren't healthy for me and started picking up some pretty great accounts along the way. By now I've made my Instagram feed a pretty safe place to be, filled with my friends, family, cute animals, sustainability tips, yummy food, and a handful of accounts that just make me feel good, and I want to share those accounts with you.

First Hike Of 2023 – Hiking In The Snow

    January 13, 2023 / 0 Comments

This past weekend I went on my first hike of 2023 and boy did it kick my butt! Not only was it my first hike of 2023, but it was also one of my first real hikes in months (with the exception of Joshua Tree, last month but that was a fairly level hike), a hike in pretty deep snow (a first), and at a pretty high elevation (we ended at around 8000 feet and climbed just over 1000 feet). We weren't prepared for this hike, but I am so happy we did it.

I’m Back With 22 Things That Made 2022

    January 4, 2023 / 0 Comments

I am back and although this wasn’t a fully planned break, it was much needed. My cancer diagnosis was a blow I wasn’t expecting and it really took it out of me – not physically, just emotionally. After processing that news I tried to get back into writing and posting, but honestly, I had a lot going on the last two months. The holidays are always crazy, trying to balance family and friends, everyone wants to do stuff, and on top of it all, the husband and I went on a very dumb but very fun camping trip. Also, I basically was sick from Halloween, until sometime last week. Don’t…

    I have cancer.

    November 21, 2022 / 5 Comments

I wasn't going to make this a blog post, but as I've tried to work through this over the past few weeks, it's become really clear that I need to. One, because this blog is where I figure life out. This is where I go to share what I'm going through and work through it. Also, since getting this news I've sat down to write about other things, regularly scheduled content, and it just didn't feel important. This is all I've wanted to write about. And lastly, I've been searching the internet trying to find someone, anyone, to tell me it was ok to feel the way I feel and…

I Don’t Like The Nightmare Before Christmas

    October 26, 2022 / 0 Comments

I am a Hot Topic Millennial. I still identify as an emo kid. Fall Out Boy is still my favorite band and I was in love with Pete Wentz, with his Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired sleeve and all for most of my teenage years. I know Blink 182's "I Miss You" by heart and I do not like The Nightmare Before Christmas. I would almost go as far as saying I hate the movie.

Hodad’s – 8 Years Later And Nothing Has Changed

    October 19, 2022 / 0 Comments

Hodad's is an amazing place, with amazing food, and a super fun atmosphere. I went over 8 years between visits and it was like no time at all had passed. If you find yourself anywhere near Ocean Beach, San Diego, and you like burgers, I'm telling you, you need to make some time for a visit to Hodad's!

Cal Poly Pumpkin Fest – Fall Fun For The Whole Family

    October 14, 2022 / 0 Comments

I don't have kids of my own, but both my husband and I grew up around babies. We both have lots of nieces and nephews, so we are both well-versed in family-friendly activities, and the Cal Poly Pumpkin Fest is just that! With hay rides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, and of course pumpkins, Cal Poly's Pumpkin Fest is family-friendly fall fun and a great way to spend the afternoon.

Hocus Pocus 2 Made Me Feel Like a Bad Millennial

    October 10, 2022 / 0 Comments

It seems like everyone that grew up in the 90s loves Hocus Pocus! And so when the announcement that there was going to be a Hocus Pocus 2 broke, it seemed like that's all anyone could talk about. My Instagram and my Facebook were filled with posts about how excited everyone was that the Sanderson sisters were coming back. As the release date approached, it all just got worse. Everyone around me seemed to be counting down the days and, well, I wasn't.

G&D Burgers – Good Food and Good People

    October 2, 2022 / 0 Comments

Although I know it will never happen, I am on the hunt for a place that will hit the spot like Colima Burgers did. No burger joint will ever be able to take the place of Colima Burgers in my heart, nor will another place ever feel like home the way Colima Burgers did. That place held too much nostalgia for me, too much of my childhood, and really too much of my life to ever be replaced, but I am hoping (despite what my waistline might want) that I will be able to find a place with burgers and chili cheese fries that are at least nearly comparable.

My 2-Day Trip to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park

    September 27, 2022 / 1 Comment

For our wedding anniversary this year, my husband and I spent two days in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Two parks neither of us had ever been to and it was so much fun! Now two days isn't that much time, especially to explore two different (although connected parks), but I think we did a pretty good job of seeing a lot, and I want to share with you exactly what we did, in case you find yourself with only a few days to explore these amazing parks.
