I Lost Another Piece of Home Last Week

    September 9, 2022 /

Many of us have places that we grew up in, places that feel like home outside of our home. Places that hold a special place in our hearts, that are filled with special memories. Places that feel safe even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

    Colima Burgers

    December 10, 2019 /

And then there is Colima Burgers. And as cheesy and dramatic as it sounds, I mean this will all sincerity, since coming back to California, walking into Colima Burgers has felt like coming home each and every time. Colima Burgers is a family run greasy spoon that I have gone to all my life.

    Happy Birthday Teddy’s Bigger Burgers

    April 19, 2019 /

This week Teddy’s Bigger Burgers turned 21! On April 15th, 1998 the first Teddy’s Bigger Burgers opened up at the foot of Diamond Head on Oahu serving fresh ground chuck burgers, fries and shakes. Teddy’s may not have been my #1 burger on Oahu, but it definitely became a big part of my life on Oahu. Burgers are…

Seven Brothers – The Best Burger on Oahu

    October 29, 2018 /

I LOVE burgers! When I lived in California, I was always on the hunt for the perfect burger. One of my favorite things to do on the weekends was to seek out new hole in the wall, greasy spoon, burger joints. After moving to Hawaii, accepting my new burger situation was one of the biggest and most difficult adjustments for me. (That sounds sad, but it is totally true.) It’s not that there are bad burgers here in Hawaii. I have found several places around the island with good burgers, just not the type of burgers I was used to or I was craving. All that changed when I found…

Not only are the falls gorgeous but the entire hike up was too. Totally worth wading through knee deep water a dozen times.

I used to do "dumb" things like this all the time I used to do "dumb" things like this all the time in Hawaii. Hiking in the rain, crossing deep, rough water. But for some reason when there's a chill in the air and the water is a bit icy, it's a bit more intimidating. No less fun, but more intimidating for sure!
