30 “Things” That Made My 30th Year
Tomorrow I turn 31 and well the first chapter of my 30s was not all that I had imagined. I didn't accomplish as much as I hoped. Most of the positive, healthy habits I set out to establish eventually fell through. And I ultimately spent a lot of the year lost, frustrated, and sad. But this is a new year, the start of another trip around the sun and an opportunity to try to do things better, again.

In case you weren't aware, like me up until this morning, Krispy Kreme has launched some Thanksgiving-themed doughnuts and I tried each and every one of them this morning! Hot Chickz – L.A. Hot Chicken, Hidden Gem in La Puente
As I write this I have eaten at Hot Chickz, three times, twice in one weekend. I have tried both versions of their sandwiches, their chicken sandwich (served on a bun) and their Hot Chick Sandwich (served on a roll). I have tried two different spice levels "Just a Kick" (mild) and "Feelin' It" (medium). Although I was able to eat the medium it was painful and I've decided to stick with their mild. I have also tried their Hot Chick Fries (everything you get on a Hot Chick Sandwich, chicken, coleslaw, pickles, and sauce, on top of fries), their mac and cheese, and a pepperoni pizza.

20 Things That Made 2020 Tolerable
2020 has been a pretty crap year for most of us I think. Yes, if you follow me I was pretty happy with how the majority of this year went, and this was by far not my worst year (although the past month has it ranking pretty high up there), but even through the best lens this year was full of stress, anxiety, change, and uncertainty. That being said, there were some things that definitely made this year a little easier, happier, and entertaining, at least for me.

Baby Steps To Plant-Based Eating
I haven't bought meat in over a month, sort of. Over the past few months my husband and I have really been on an eco-kick sustainable living journey of sorts. As you know, we started backyard composting and gardening. My recycling habits have really been put in check and we started looking at our day to day consumption and how we could make better choices. Little by little we've been looking at the things we use, how we use them, what their impact is and how we could make better choices. We started having conversations about how products are made, where products come from, the insane amount of plastic we…

The Hat
In N Out. When you think of Southern California fast food, In N Out is what comes to mind. Whether you have never been to one or you spent your entire life in SoCal, you just can't help it; Whether you know better or not, In N Out is what always comes to mind when you think Southern California burger joint. But, there is another SoCal based local favorite that, even though it's loved by many, seems to always be forgotten. The Hat.

Colima Burgers
And then there is Colima Burgers. And as cheesy and dramatic as it sounds, I mean this will all sincerity, since coming back to California, walking into Colima Burgers has felt like coming home each and every time. Colima Burgers is a family run greasy spoon that I have gone to all my life.

Bryce in the Snow
My entire life I have had to spend a good amount of time in Utah. When I was younger it was to go see my grandpa. Then in 2014 my mom moved up there. Now my mom is back in California, but we still have her place to watch over. Lucky for me, thanks to all this, over the last couple years I have been lucky enough to explore several of the national parks in Utah. So far I've been to Zion, Bryce, and Capitol Reef. All of them are gorgeous in their own special way, but Bryce in the winter is by far my absolute favorite.

Apple Picking Adventures
Fall is my favorite season, in theory. I love the changing leaves and the chill in the air. There is nothing I enjoy more than wrapping myself up in blanket on cool nights. I think I'm much cuter in sweaters, scarves, tights and boots, than in bikinis, shorts, and tank tops. And, I can start breaking out the eggnog (pumpkin spice can kiss my ass). But, I live in Southern California and that means my fall season is really more of a faux fall season. (Don't get me wrong its way more fall like here than it was in Hawaii, but compared to the majority of the country, it's barely…

New York Pizza
I was little, it was while I was still in elementary. I have always been a HUGE shave ice fan. I was home with a babysitter, which in my mind was rare. I feel like for most of my childhood, my dad was usually the one home with me and if I did need to be watched 90% of the time I'd either be with my brother and/or his wife or with my dad's best friend's family. Anyways, I digress, this day I was home with a babysitter, possibly my cousin or my future niece (another story), and my dad came home with a shave ice!
