I Finally Went Camping at Joshua Tree

    May 22, 2022 / 1 Comment

It finally happened! While it took me nearly thirty years to make it out to Joshua Tree for the first time, two years after my initial visit I fulfilled my dream of camping under those big goofy whimsical trees. And it was as magical as I had imagined.

    I Quit My Job!

    May 14, 2022 / 4 Comments

April ended up being an overly hectic month, kicked off with a car accident along with some other things, so I do have to sadly report that I haven't been able to grow any further than I was in March. But the year isn't even halfway over yet and I've already accomplished more than I expected to do this entire year. If you would have asked me back in January where I see myself in six months I would have never guessed I'd be happily working from home, making my own hours. I still need to hustle, I still have a lot of plans, and I still have a long…

    I’m scared. I’m angry. And I’m overwhelmed.

    May 5, 2022 / 4 Comments

Like a lot of women in this country, I have been walking around in a weird, shocked, angry cloud, filled with hours of news watching, Twitter scrolling, and Reddit reading. Although I actually had a lot planned for my blog this week, I've realized that I can't get anything done until I get all of this *waves hands around head* out. So, I am going to try to put into words what I've been going through and what's been on my mind for the past few days. This is probably going to be rambly and possibly not make much sense, but I've got to put this all somewhere. And when…

30 “Things” That Made My 30th Year

    January 27, 2022 / 0 Comments

Tomorrow I turn 31 and well the first chapter of my 30s was not all that I had imagined. I didn't accomplish as much as I hoped. Most of the positive, healthy habits I set out to establish eventually fell through. And I ultimately spent a lot of the year lost, frustrated, and sad. But this is a new year, the start of another trip around the sun and an opportunity to try to do things better, again.

2022 – New Year Means New Years Resolutions

    January 20, 2022 / 1 Comment

I spent a lot of 2021 upset about where I was (am) in life and was too scared to actually make any changes. I spent all of 2021 thinking about the life I wanted and the changes I could make to get that life, while ultimately doing very little about it. I was so afraid of making a move or taking a risk that could fail, that I did nothing for most of the year. I don't want that to happen this year.

As I've listened to these conversations and discussions about this past year I've heard many different metaphors or examples to explain the past two years, but the one that makes the most sense to me or that has resonated with me the most is a car accident. (I'm not sure if this is all my own idea or if someone else made the reference and it stuck with me, but the car accident metaphor is the one I've latched on to and will run with.) For the past two years, we have been living through a horrible car accident and the physical rehab that follows.

Get in the Spooky Mood with Norco’s Pumpkin Rock Hike

    October 26, 2021 / 0 Comments

Halloween may be less than a week away, but if you live in Southern California and are looking for a unique way to celebrate this spooky season, the Pumpkin Rock Hike in Norco may be perfect for you! I’ve done this hike twice now since moving back to California, right around my first Halloween back, and once this past weekend. The hike is short, just around a mile round trip, and despite the incline (depending on the route you chose) and some loose rock/gravel, the hike is pretty doable by most people in relative shape. And this hike is for the most part family-friendly, as long as no one has…

Women’s March: Rally For Abortion Justice 2021

    October 6, 2021 / 3 Comments

This past Saturday, October 2, 2021, hundreds of thousands of women rallied together and marched for women's reproductive rights. There were over 600 marches held across the country and I attended Downtown LA's event. The exact numbers haven't been reported, but it was estimated that approximately 20,000 women were going to participate in the Downtown LA event.

10.20.2025 Durry at The Troubadour Leading up to 10.20.2025 Durry at The Troubadour

Leading up to this show I had spent the last 5 days in Las Vegas for When We Were Young. I had walked nearly 100k steps over the last three days and was running on an average of 4 hours a sleep a night for the entirety of the trip.

A smart responsible adult would have gone home and gone to bed early to recover and prepare to return to work and normal life the next day.

But that is not me and my love for this band is too strong. We drove home from Vegas that morning, dropped off our bags at home, took a quick 30 minute nap, and then headed into Hollywood...and it was so totally worth it!

20+ years and I finally got to see @jason_mraz live. Been a fan since "The Remedy" and seeing him live was such a special experience.

He's an artist I don't get to talk about much and don't share him with others the way I do some of my other favorite musicians. But he's always held a very special place in my heart and has gotten me through a lot over the years.

He was also one of the few artists my dad and I were able to bond over. I remember one road trip specifically we only listened to Jason's debut album Waiting for my Rocket to Come, on repeat, for all 8 hours.
